Geotechnical Exploration
GEOTECHNICAL EXPLORATION
A geotechnical exploration is performed to
allow engineering recommendations to be provided for
site preparation methods, foundation design
parameters, and various other construction
considerations. A customized geotechnical exploration testing program is
developed to meet the needs of the Client, and
accounts for such factors as: the stage of project
development, on site conditions, geologic conditions, type and extent of building/development and special project requirements. Our experience with the regional subsurface conditions, site development methods and methods of construction allows FSE to provide
Anchor Pullout Test a cost effective Geotechnical Exploration
testing program.
Our Geotechnical Exploration series include:
- Site Reconnaissance (determination of existing/post site information)
- Solid Auger Borings (sounding for soil type/top of rock elevation)
- Hollow Stem Auger Borings with Standard Penetration Testing (determination of soil type, consistency, water content, contamination and method of placement)
- Test Pit Excavations with Cone Penetrometer Testing (determine soil conditions based on direct observation of site excavations)
- Groundwater Monitoring Well (determine groundwater elevation and allow for water sampling)
- Hand Auger Borings with Cone Penetrometer Testing (determination of shallow soil conditions in difficult to reach areas)
- Relativey Undisturbed Soil Sample Collection (to provide a soil sample for lab
testing of strength, consolidation and permeability parameters)
- NX Size Rock Core Sampling (to provide an intact rock sample for determining rock type, hardness, structure and quality.
- Topographic/Geologic Mapping Review
- Field and Laboratory Testing
